Former students are welcome to attend for a refresher as well.

Please do not bring dogs on all metal collars including choke and pinch collars.  Harnesses, head halters, regular or martingale collars are all welcome.

Motivating your dog is essential to good training!  Please bring bite-sized, high-value treats to class. Treats your dog likes at home may not be good enough for class.  Some all time favorites are cheese, chicken, hot dogs and meatballs.  Variety is good so you can mix in lower value treats with the good stuff.  If your dog loves toys you can bring them as well.

Important- when registering, please only add one person to the registration.  Registration is per dog.  Multiple people can attend with one dog at no extra charge, however, if you add additional people to the registration, you will be charged $140 for each person.

with Becky and Todd Kier

January 13th to February 3rd, 2024

$140 More Info

This will be two seperate classes running at the same time.

Canine Good Citizen

If you have a solid start on your foundation manners, this class helps you prepare to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners.  Dogs are evaluated on their acceptance of other people and dogs, greeting skills, basic skills (sit, down, stay, come) leash manners, reaction to distraction and separation from owner. Passing the CGC is a first step for therapy dog training. You can view test specifics and requirements here https://www.akc.org/products-services/training-programs/canine-good-citizen/

After the last class, assuming enough demand, we will offer the official CGC Test! Teams that pass will be registered with AKC and receive an official certificate ($20 additional fee)

This class is a great option for those seeking intermediate manners and will include lots of greeting practice. Also, it is the foundation for therapy dog training.

To attend class, dogs must have foundation manners including sit, down, stay and a good start on loose leash walking skills. If you have not taken Foundation Manners with us before, we may require a video of your dog doing foundation behaviors. Please do not bring dogs on any metal collar including choke and pinch collars.  Harnesses, head halters, regular or martingale collars are all welcome. To pass the official CGC Test, dogs cannot test on a head halter. Additionally, no treats may be used during the test.

Class is 4 weeks and limited to five dogs. Class is at Scudder Campus in Wimberley, indoors.

Come When Called/Leave It!

These skills can save a life and require extra focus and attention.  We will practice our recall exercises all over campus, indoors and outside increasing difficulty week by week!  Leave it will be practiced as well and used in combination with our recall exercises.

This is not a beginner class, dogs must have attended a previous foundation manners class. If you have not taken Foundation Manners with us before, we may require a video of your dog doing foundation behaviors. Please do not bring dogs on any metal collar including choke and pinch collars.  Harnesses, head halters, regular or martingale collars are all welcome.

Please bring a long line to class, 15 ft is ideal, no more than 20 ft.
