New program lets high school students raise future service dogs

Students meet puppies they’ll train to be service dog superheroes

Students from the Wimberley and Dripping Springs High Schools met the furry, four legged superheroes that they'll be training for the next year and a half or so.

Puppy training class at Wimberley High School lets students teach dogs to save lives

Part of the training involves using platforms that are slightly off the ground. The kids use these platforms to keep the dogs still and in one place while teaching them commands such as sit, lay down and stand.

Students are Training Puppies for Important Work

There is plenty of love and attention for the three Labrador retriever pups now at the front of Wimberley High School teacher, Tiffany Black’s Career Technical Education classroom. While cuddly and cute, these pups, Zinger, Zesty and Zam, have a whole lot of class and homework too.
